Cheesy Patty Melt (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Sandwich Ingredients

01 - 6 slices of Provolone cheese
02 - 6 slices of cheddar cheese
03 - 6 tablespoons of softened butter
04 - 6 slices of rye bread

→ Beef Patty Ingredients

05 - 1 pound of ground beef
06 - 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
07 - 3/4 teaspoon of black pepper
08 - 1/4 teaspoon of onion powder

→ Special Sauce Ingredients

09 - 1 teaspoon of white sugar
10 - 1 teaspoon of sweet relish
11 - 1 tablespoon of bacon bits
12 - 2 tablespoons of ketchup
13 - 3 tablespoons of mayo

# Instructions:

01 - Spread the butter generously on one side of every rye bread slice. Once done, set them aside for later.
02 - In a bowl, mix together the beef, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Shape the mixture into three patties designed to match the size of your bread.
03 - Place the patties in a skillet set to medium-high heat. Sear for about 2 to 3 minutes on each side. Lower the heat, then cook for 5 more minutes until the meat has no pink and reaches 160°F (71°C).
04 - Combine the mayo, ketchup, sugar, relish, and bacon bits in a small mixing bowl. Stir until it looks smooth and creamy.
05 - Heat a clean skillet over medium-low. Lay a piece of bread butter-side down, add two slices of cheddar, place a beef patty on top, then add two slices of Provolone. Smear the sauce on the unbuttered side of another bread slice and close it up with the sauce facing in.
06 - Toast the sandwich on each side for about 2 to 3 minutes until crispy and golden. Repeat these steps for the rest of your sandwiches until all three are done.

# Notes:

01 - A thermometer makes sure your patties are safely cooked at 160°F.
02 - The sauce's tangy sweetness is a lot like thousand island dressing.
03 - Rye bread is classic, but sourdough can be a nice switch.
