Puff Pastry Hearts (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 egg (optional, to brush on top).
02 - 2–3 tablespoons fruit spread or chocolate filling (if using).
03 - 1 tablespoon melted butter for coating.
04 - 1 tablespoon shredded cheese (optional).
05 - Herbs like thyme or rosemary (optional for garnish).
06 - Fresh or dried herbs and shredded cheese for savory flavor.
07 - 2–3 tablespoons sugar (if making a sweet version).
08 - 1 puff pastry sheet (ready-made or homemade).

# Instructions:

01 - Warm the oven to 400°F. Use some flour to roll the pastry out into a 12x10-inch rectangle.
02 - Grab a cookie cutter or knife to carve out some hearts from the pastry.
03 - Place jam/chocolate for sweet or cheese/herbs for savory right in the middle of each heart.
04 - Fold up the sides around the filling, leaving a small edge exposed. Add a little wave or frill if you like.
05 - Coat the tops with butter or egg wash. Arrange on a baking tray lined with parchment.
06 - Cook for 10–15 minutes, watching for that light golden color and puffiness.

# Notes:

01 - Works well both sweet or savory.
02 - Pre-made pastry is a great shortcut.
03 - Tastes best fresh from the oven while warm.
