Stovetop Beef Chili (Printable Version)

This comforting chili pairs ground beef, beans, and veggies in a simple tomato base with spices. Great for a weeknight dinner.

# What You'll Need:

01 - 2 tbsp good-quality olive oil.
02 - 1 big yellow onion, chopped into small bits.
03 - 3 celery sticks, sliced thin.
04 - 2 average-sized carrots, cut into small pieces.
05 - 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped.
06 - 2 lbs ground beef.
07 - 2 tbsp chili powder.
08 - 2 tsp smoked paprika.
09 - 1 tsp cumin powder.
10 - 1 tsp dried oregano leaves.
11 - 1 tsp fine sea salt.
12 - 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder.
13 - 28 oz can of chopped tomatoes.
14 - 15 oz can of kidney beans, rinsed and drained.
15 - 1 cup of your favorite broth.

# Steps to Follow:

01 - In a big pot, warm up the oil on medium. Cook the onion, celery, and carrots for 4-5 minutes till softened, then toss in the garlic and let it cook for about a minute.
02 - Pop in the ground beef, break it apart, and cook for 6-7 minutes till it’s mostly browned. Add in all the spices and stir around for 2-3 minutes.
03 - Mix in the chopped tomatoes, beans, and broth. Let it reach a simmer, then lower the heat to medium-low.
04 - Leave it uncovered to cook for 30-45 minutes, giving it a stir now and then until it thickens. Dish it up warm and add toppings if you like.

# Additional Notes:

01 - You can play with the heat by adding more or less chili powder.
02 - Feel free to skip the beans if you prefer.
03 - Simmering longer (up to 2 hours) makes it taste even better.
