French Onion Pasta (Printable Version)

This one-pot dish pairs caramelized onions with Gruyere cheese for a creamy and comforting meal. All the goodness of French onion soup in pasta form.

# What You'll Need:

01 - 2 spoons of butter.
02 - 3 spoons of olive oil.
03 - 4 cloves of garlic.
04 - 3 big yellow onions.
05 - A pinch of red pepper flakes.
06 - 1 spoon of soy sauce.
07 - 1 spoon of worcestershire sauce.
08 - 5½ cups of plain water.
09 - 12 ounces of canned evaporated milk.
10 - Half a spoon of cornstarch.
11 - A couple of spoons of beef bouillon.
12 - Chopped fresh herbs like thyme and parsley.
13 - Some dried spices.
14 - 1 lb of pasta.
15 - 5 oz of gruyere cheese.
16 - A quarter cup of parmesan cheese.

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Heat butter and oil, then cook the onion slices for about 30–35 minutes, stirring until they’re golden brown and soft.
02 - Toss in the garlic, sauces, and seasonings. Let them cook for a short while.
03 - Mix water with milk and cornstarch, then pour it all in. Add the bouillon and herbs too.
04 - Drop the pasta in and keep simmering for 20–25 minutes. Stir frequently so it doesn’t stick, until it’s cooked just right.
05 - Take it off the heat, stir in the cheeses until they’re smooth and melted. Adjust the thickness and flavor as you like.

# Additional Notes:

01 - You can prep the onions ahead of time.
02 - Stays fresh in the fridge for up to 5 days.
03 - Add more liquid while cooking if necessary.
