Peel, core, and cut the pears into 1.5 cm pieces. Place them in a medium bowl and toss with lemon juice and cornstarch to thicken the filling. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.

In a separate bowl, combine flour, chopped walnuts, oats, brown sugar, and salt. Add the cold butter cubes and use a fork or pastry cutter to mix until the texture resembles coarse crumbs.

Scatter the crumble topping evenly over the pears, breaking up large clumps. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until edges are bubbling and topping is golden brown.

Cool the crumble for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
