German Potato Pancakes (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - Vegetable oil for cooking.
02 - A pinch of black pepper.
03 - Salt, as much as you need.
04 - 1 large egg.
05 - 3 tbsp of plain flour.
06 - 1 small yellow onion.
07 - 1 pound of russet potatoes.

# Instructions:

01 - Use the large side of a grater to shred both the onion and peeled potatoes. Squeeze out any leftover water.
02 - Stir the grated potatoes and onion together with the egg, flour, salt, and pepper until blended well.
03 - Put 2 tbsps of the batter into hot oil in a skillet, spread it out lightly. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until it looks golden and crispy.
04 - Fry each side again for 30-60 seconds to make them extra crunchy.
05 - Set on some paper towels to drain. While they're hot, pair with sour cream or applesauce and enjoy.

# Notes:

01 - Goes great with either sweet or salty add-ons.
02 - Double frying gives them more crunch.
03 - They taste the best fresh and warm.
