German Chocolate Bars (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 teaspoon pure vanilla.
02 - 3 tablespoons water (use box suggestion if different).
03 - 1 cup toasted, chopped pecans (skip if you'd prefer).
04 - 1 large egg.
05 - 1 box (18.3 oz) brownie mix, family size.
06 - 2/3 cup vegetable oil (follow box directions if applicable).
07 - 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk.
08 - 2 large eggs (check box for any changes).
09 - 1 1/2 cups sweetened shredded coconut.
10 - 3/4 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet).

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 350°F to get it hot.
02 - Line a 13x9-inch pan with parchment or grease it up.
03 - If using pecans, toast in a dry skillet for 2-5 minutes and let cool down.
04 - Combine the brownie ingredients and stir until just about smooth.
05 - Dump the brownie batter into your pan evenly.
06 - Pop it in the oven and bake for 10 minutes. The edges should set a bit.
07 - Whisk the condensed milk, vanilla, and egg together, then gently mix in the coconut and pecans.
08 - Scoop the topping and drop it in spoonfuls over the slightly baked brownies.
09 - Scatter the chocolate chips over the top.
10 - Bake again for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges turn golden.
11 - Let it cool all the way before slicing to keep the pieces neat.

# Notes:

01 - Use a spoon to drop the topping evenly instead of pouring.
02 - Make sure they're completely cooled so cutting is easier.
